Ed’s First 6 months in Recruitment

 

Ed Langdon joined Albert Bow in March 2022 after 9+ years of sales experience with a special focus on business development. Ed quickly became an integral part of the team always bringing positivity to our mornings!

Why did you join AB?

I joined Albert Bow for an opportunity to work in a proactive and competitive environment, with other like minded people. I was also really attracted to working in Technology, as the world continues to move in this direction.

How have you found your first six months?

I have loved my first 6 months at Albert Bow and feel like a key member of the team. It’s such a good environment and place to work with other driven people. The office is always great fun with the dogs around – and music on throughout the day.

What have been the highlights of your first six months?

I would say my highlights have been bringing on numerous new businesses and getting that first deal across the line! Other than that, securing one of the curved screens on my desktop, was another win.

What has been the biggest challenge?

For me, the biggest challenge has been some of the bad luck in processes that I have been working on. However, from that I have been able to take a lot of learnings on how to potentially avoid or look out for potential ‘hiccups’ in the future. This coupled with strong support from the rest of the team, has made facing my challenges a little easier.

Why would you encourage a potential new hire to join AB?

One of the things that I have been most impressed by at Albert Bow is the continued access to a) learning and b) support – which sets AB aside from others. The training offering to continue to develop skills is really helpful in keeping you at the top of your game. Alongside this, there is always someone on hand to give advice and direction from the top, down.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone joining AB?

Get your day organised and be strict with your timings! Make sure you leave at night, with things lined up already for the next day.

What has been the best piece of information/training you have been through since you started?

The best piece of training I have had – ‘Ask the question and zip it!’

This advice was actioned quite quickly and has remarkably improved my ability to get fantastic information from a candidate.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your role?

Meeting a candidate face to face, having a coffee or a beer with a mutual common goal. You actually become quite important to that person and visa-versa.

What advice would you give to others considering recruitment?

If you are really keen on talking to people, you have a good phone nature and you want to succeed in a fun environment, this is certainly the place for you.
