The Opportunity
The firm is looking for a Sports Trader with deep expertise across one or more sports and the judgement to make effective decisions in fast-moving live markets.
You will work closely with quantitative traders and engineers, bringing sporting knowledge and practical market insight into the strategy-development process.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring live sporting events and the corresponding trading activity.
- Adjusting trading parameters as games and markets develop.
- Identifying information that may not be fully reflected in current prices.
- Recognising recurring patterns and generating ideas for new strategies.
- Reviewing trading performance and identifying weaknesses in existing approaches.
- Helping researchers translate sporting dynamics into models and trading rules.
- Managing risk and making clear decisions during time-sensitive situations.
- Sharing insight across the team and contributing to broader trading strategy.
About You
You will have genuine domain expertise across at least one sport, together with a strong understanding of betting markets and how prices move.
Relevant backgrounds could include bookmakers, betting exchanges, sports trading syndicates, professional betting operations, sports analytics businesses or a demonstrable personal trading record.
You will ideally bring:
- Deep expertise across one or more sports.
- Experience trading, pricing or analysing sports markets.
- Strong situational judgement during live events.
- The ability to identify patterns and turn observations into strategy ideas.
- A practical understanding of probability, pricing and risk.
- Reliability and composure in fast-moving environments.
- Clear communication and a collaborative working style.
- An interest in prediction markets and the development of the sector.
Formal quantitative or programming experience would be useful but is not essential. Sporting expertise, strategic thinking and dependable live decision-making are the priorities.
