Founding Software Engineer

An extremely exciting client of ours who is an Ai-based startup on the brink of exponential growth is looking to add an exceptional hands-on Founding Software Engineer to their early-stage team. At an early stage they have already generated substantial revenue, and with a recent infusion of substantial investment, we are poised to revolutionise the industry. Based in San Francisco, their dynamic team meets regularly to foster collaboration and innovation.

As the founding Software Engineer and essentially the CTO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this business. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire tech team and driving technological innovation that aligns with our strategic objectives. This role requires a dynamic leader with expertise in Python, React, AWS, and artificial intelligence, as well as a proven track record in building and scaling startups.

This role will be very hands-on and will require you to use your expertise in software development for up to 70% of your day for the next 6 to 9 months whilst the product is being developed and advanced. This role will evolve into a more strategic engineering leadership/CTO role when the team gets bigger which is due to be at the start of 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technology Leadership: Lead and manage the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration.
• Strategic Vision: Collaborate closely with the CEO to define and execute the technology roadmap that supports the company’s growth objectives.
• Product Development: Drive the development of cutting-edge Ai-based products and solutions, ensuring they are scalable and align with market demands.
• Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop top-tier engineering talent, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership in Python, React, AWS, and artificial intelligence, guiding the team in making informed technology choices.
• Startup Experience: Leverage your past experience in building and scaling startups to navigate challenges and seize opportunities.
• Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, recommending and implementing new technologies and tools to enhance our products and services.
• Budget Management: Oversee the technology department’s budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
• Equity Management: Play a significant role in equity allocation and distribution, reflecting your pivotal contribution to the company’s success.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Core contributor, CTO, VP of Engineering, or a senior technical leadership role in a fast-growing startup.
• This is a very hands-on role due to the stage of the business. You will need to be an expert Python and React developer with specific expertise in AWS and Ai.
• Demonstrated success in developing and scaling innovative technology products.
• Track record of building and leading high-performance engineering teams.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to attract and retain top technical talent.
• Experience in securing and managing funding and investments.
